Payroll Cashflow

Every business owner knows the feeling: invoices arriving faster than client payments, suppliers expecting settlement while your cashflow tells a different story. Until now, the options were limited. Negotiate awkward payment extensions, arrange expensive short-term finance, or simply pay and watch your reserves drain.

BoostPay Flex offers a different approach.

What's changed?

You may know us as Payroll with Points. The service helped businesses manage contractor and employee payments using their business credit card including Amex, extending payment timing by up to 54 days while earning rewards on every pound.

BoostPay Flex is the same solution, expanded. It now processes any business payment, including those with VAT. Supplier invoices, professional services, facilities costs, technology subscriptions – all now covered alongside payroll.

Same benefits. Same process. More flexibility.

How it works

The mechanics remain straightforward. You pay BoostPay using your business credit card including American Express. Your supplier or worker receives immediate payment. You settle your card balance up to 54 days later, earning rewards on every pound spent.

We accept all major business credit cards including American Express, Visa, Mastercard, and Capital on Tap – giving you flexibility over how you pay and which rewards you earn.

Practical examples

Consider a logistics firm managing driver payments and fuel costs while waiting for clients to settle 45-day invoices. Using BoostPay Flex extends the payment window by up to 54 days, without factoring costs or finance arrangements.

Now expand that thinking beyond payroll.

The same firm faces quarterly vehicle insurance of £12,000 plus VAT, annual fleet maintenance contracts of £8,000 plus VAT, and various software subscriptions totalling £3,000. Previously, each required separate payment from cleared funds. Now, all can flow through the same flexible mechanism, extending payment timing while accumulating rewards.

And for IT consultancies, covering contractor day rates and software licensing fees before project milestone payments arrive creates constant cashflow pressure. Processing these through a single card payment consolidates the impact and shifts settlement, giving you the flexibility to plan and invest.

The VAT timing advantage

VAT-inclusive payments deserve specific attention. When you settle a £12,000 invoice comprising £10,000 of services plus £2,000 VAT, the full amount leaves your account immediately. You'll reclaim the VAT eventually, but the timing gap creates working capital pressure.

With a 54-day payment extension, the arithmetic changes. Depending on your VAT return timing, you might actually receive your refund before the card payment falls due. The natural bridging of this gap requires no additional arrangement. It's simply a consequence of the flexible payment window.

Rewards that pay back

Credit card rewards accumulate on every payment, including the VAT portion. For a business processing £40,000 monthly through the solution, that's rewards earned on spending that would happen regardless.

Use rewards for business expenses or personal spending. Unlike other benefits, credit card reward points carry no Benefit in Kind tax liability – confirmed by HMRC as 0%. That means points earned on business spending and used personally are genuinely free value.

Who benefits most?

Businesses facing timing mismatches between payment obligations and income receipts see the clearest advantage. Agencies bridging invoice payment gaps, construction firms managing subcontractor and supplier payments simultaneously, and growing businesses where cashflow hasn't caught up with activity levels all fit this profile.

The solution also suits businesses already using credit cards but limiting payments to travel and expenses. Extending card usage to major payment categories maximises both the cashflow benefit and the rewards earning potential.

Getting started

The process requires no credit check or minimum spend commitment. Businesses need a business credit card with sufficient limit and at least four days' notice before payment deadlines. Use it once for a cashflow crunch or every week as standard practice – the flexibility is yours.

For those already using Payroll with Points, nothing changes on your side – you'll simply notice the new name. And if you want to extend the service to other payments, speak to your account manager.

For new clients, the starting point might be payroll, supplier payments, or a combination – BoostPay Flex adapts to your business needs rather than forcing a particular structure.

Delay the bills. Bank the points. Stay flexible.
