JOIN OUR TEAM

In an industry first, BoostPay have partnered with leading business credit card providers. With our exclusive agreements, clients can now pay any business payment including their payroll and HMRC using a business credit card, benefitting from up to 54 days to pay and earning loyalty points to spend tax free.

As well as supplier payments, BoostPay is also able to accept card payments on our portfolio of products including Umbrella PAYE, Bureau and CIS. As an added benefit, on certain cards, you collect points on your business transactions, and use them for either business-use, removing overhead costs or personal-use without any personal tax liability.

The credit card payment solution is totally flexible with clients using this as a one-off or on an ongoing weekly / monthly basis. Best of all there's no need to change accountant or payroll provider to benefit from the service. It truly is totally flexible.

The solution works for companies in any sector and any business costs including employee payroll, contractors payments, temps payments, HMRC payments or a mix of all four.

The charges are low, often at least 50% less than other high-street funding. And for higher rate tax payers, the tax-free personal reward points the BoostPay fees and offset almost entirely by the tax saving on the reward points. This means companies can effectively get 54 day payment terms on their largest costs at zero cost.

“This partnership represents real innovation for clients and offers major benefits and flexibility. Consider a logistics firm managing driver payments and fuel costs while waiting for clients to settle 45-day invoices. Using BoostPay Flex extends the payment window by up to 54 days, without factoring costs or finance arrangements.

Now expand that thinking beyond payroll.

The same firm faces quarterly vehicle insurance of £12,000 plus VAT, annual fleet maintenance contracts of £8,000 plus VAT, and various software subscriptions totalling £3,000. Previously, each required separate payment from cleared funds. Now, all can flow through the same flexible mechanism, extending payment timing while accumulating rewards.

And for IT consultancies, covering contractor day rates and software licensing fees before project milestone payments arrive creates constant cashflow pressure. Processing these through a single card payment consolidates the impact and shifts settlement, giving you the flexibility to plan and invest.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

FAQs

Can I really use my Amex card?

Yes. BoostPay Flex accepts American Express business cards as a funding method for a wide range of business payments — including contractor and worker payroll, supplier invoices, and payments to HMRC. This isn't something most payment providers offer, because standard payment rails don't support card funding. BoostPay has built Flex to make it possible.

Will I earn Membership Rewards points on Flex payments?

That depends on your American Express card and its rewards structure. In most cases, Flex payments are processed as standard business expenditure, which means they're treated the same as any other card transaction for rewards purposes. We'd recommend confirming with American Express directly, as card terms vary.

What American Express business cards does Flex accept?

Flex works with American Express business credit cards. If you're unsure whether your specific card is compatible, the BoostPay team can confirm before you set anything up.

Why use Amex instead of bank transfers?

Bank transfers draw immediately on your cash. Paying through American Express means the cash stays in your account until your card statement is due, giving you additional time to manage your working capital without delaying payments to workers, suppliers, or HMRC. For businesses juggling multiple payment obligations at once, that difference in timing can be significant.

Can I use Flex for my HMRC payments?

Yes. Flex can be used to fund business payments to HMRC, which makes it a useful tool around tax deadlines when cash flow is under particular pressure. Speak to the BoostPay team about how this works in practice for your specific payment obligations.

Does BoostPay charge extra for payments made by American Express?

Speak to the BoostPay team about the current fee structure for Flex. Pricing is discussed as part of the onboarding conversation so you have a clear picture before committing.
